The Paris Motor Show opens its doors this Tuesday through Sunday in Paris. Among the main models to discover: the new 4-liter electric car. A car that is completely different from the original but with many nods to the past.

The new 4L electric car is a “multi-purpose” version of the R5 and will arrive in 2025, Renault said Monday during the presentation of the model at the Paris Motor Show. “The Renault 4 is the standard living car, a real daily adventure, as versatile as possible, in the city or in the countryside, alone or with the family,” Fabrice Cambolive, the brand’s general manager, said during the presentation of the new model.

The “R4” takes shapes and some details from the original 4L

At first glance, the shapes are reminiscent of the 4L of the 1960s but in a modern version. “A rather vertical front, a horizontal bonnet but it accelerates slightly at the last moment to meet the grille and then the rear, sloping, almost leaning to the ground, towards the bumpers,” points out Gilles Vidal, Renault’s design director.

Inside, you’ll find two 10-inch screens as well as Google integration and new driving aids for a car in this range, as Bruno Vanel, Renault’s product performance manager, explains: “If we want, it directly adapts the speed according to the vehicle’s requirements. The signals it reads on the motorway, the car will organize itself according to the car in front and will maintain a constant safety distance.

The 4L, a car that does it all, with a large square boot. “We made the boot loading sill ten centimetres lower than most cars, you know, the first Renault 4 we sat in for a walk, and that’s what we wanted to do again,” continues Bruno Vanel. Even with the door closed, the 2024 version is softer than the original.

Entry price “less than 30,000 euros”

If the price of the different versions of the R4 has not yet been revealed, Renault boss Luca de Meo promised on Monday evening on RTL an entry price of “less than 30,000 euros”.
